Dear all, 

A reminder that we have lunchtime clubs as follows. Please ensure that you bring in PE kit to get changed into for the session. On Wednesdays, you are only required to bring trainers given it is a shorter lunch time.

Travelling to after school training on Wednesdays

Tomorrow after school is your first (voluntary) after school training session for your chosen sport. If you are getting a lift with parents/guardians you can ignore this message.  

If you are making your way, via public transport, to the games pitches you will have a Lower 4 pupil escorting you there. The following information is important:

• After period 6 return to your form room to pack your bag.
• Be sure to pack your HW for the evening and all clothing/equipment for sport.
• Don't forget your Zip card for the bus.
• Then stay in your form room until a Lower 4 pupil arrives to collect you.

London Lecture - ‘The afterlife of atoms' by Tim Gregory, Royal Institution, Monday 13 October 2025

Living in London, we are very fortunate to have a multitude of top-class events on our doorstep. Every half term there is a trip to an interesting lecture or event in London.

‘The afterlife of atoms: Saving lives and exploring space with nuclear waste’
Nuclear waste has a bad name. But in the same way we give everyday waste a new life through household recycling, we can give nuclear waste a second life through chemical recycling.
In this talk, nuclear chemist Tim Gregory explores how exotic isotopes in nuclear waste — by-products of nuclear power — are being transformed into remarkable tools. They can be concocted into nuclear medicines, used to cure and diagnose illnesses on the smallest scale possible: one radioactive atom at a time. And they can be fashioned into long-lasting power sources for spacecraft, enabling the exploration of the solar system and — in the not-too-distant future — thriving settlements on the Moon… and beyond.

SOCS Co-curricular sign-up

Thank you for attending the Co-curricular Fair yesterday.

Between now and the end of Sunday you have the opportunity to go onto SOCS Co-curriular and sign up for various activities. However, while it is helpful if you do this, do not worry if you cannot do it (for example for technical reasons). You are still allowed just to turn up at a club and give your name to the teacher in charge.

3F Academic Scholars - individual meetings

3F Academic Scholars have 10 minute meetings today Tuesday 9 September with Mr Scicinski or Mr Codrington in the Helikon Centre.

Check Teams messages for your time: make a note of when your meeting is and come to the Helikon Centre punctually. Note that these meetings are during lesson time, so you must politely ask your teacher to go.

Co-curricular Fair lunchtime

The Co-curricular Fair takes place at 1.00 today in the Cloisters.

You will be allowed to leave Period 4 at 12.35. Please make sure that you have finished your lunch by 1.00.

The fair will last half an hour and will finish at 1.30 (so you will still get a good break after it). Please take the opportunity to find out about as many of the activities as possible, not just the ones that you will definitely be joining.
