1st XV v. Taunton Wednesday

1st XV play Taunton on Wednesday in the National Plate quarter-final. This is the biggest 1st XV match in over a decade.

Kick-off is at 4.00, so L5, U4, L4 and Third Form will not be able to watch the whole game. However, anybody who heads down to Perivale straight after school should get there on time for all or most of the second half.

You are strongly encouraged to show your support for the boys in this massive match.

Form 3 Trip to 'Jack and the Beanstalk' - Wednesday 10th December

Please bring a packed lunch which we will eat before we leave.

You may bring one bag of sweets for the show.

You will have periods 1-3 as normal. At the end of period 3 go to your form room to eat your packed lunch. 

At 12 noon, go to the Atrium and line up in alphabetical order in forms.

Please wear normal uniform. You are very welcome to wear a Christmas jumper and/or Santa hat as well.

Bring a coat as well as it may be chilly.

We should return to school around 5pm. All will be dismissed at school. 

Please bring your phone but we will only use it in an emergency. We will not be using phones on the journey.

Chaplaincy

Happy first week of Advent!

1 Dec - Feast of St Edmund Campion

Edmund Campion, son of a London bookseller, was educated at Christ’s Hospital and St John’s College, Oxford, where his brilliance won him wide renown and the patronage of the Earl of Leicester. After serving as Oxford’s orator for Queen Elizabeth’s 1566 visit and being ordained an Anglican deacon in 1569, he left for Ireland to help found what became Trinity College and to write a History of Ireland.

Troubled in conscience, he returned to England briefly before departing for Douai, where he rejoined the Catholic Church. In 1573 he entered the Jesuits in Rome, later teaching in Prague and being ordained priest in 1578. Chosen with Robert Persons to launch a Jesuit mission to England, he returned secretly in 1580, ministering to Catholics, writing his Brag in defence of his mission, and publishing the Decem Rationes, a bold challenge to Protestant scholars.

His energetic ministry and influence made him a target. Captured in 1581, he resisted bribes, torture, and theological pressure. Tried on false charges of treason, he was condemned despite exposing the weakness of the evidence. Affirming his loyalty to the Queen and the historic faith of England, he was executed with Alexander Briant and Ralph Sherwin at Tyburn on 1 December 1581.

St Edmund Campion is one of the 40 Martyrs of England and Wales.

On Tuesday 2nd December, we are delighted to welcome acclaimed poet and spoken word artist Kimba, who will be running poetry workshops with F3 in the library. This will mean some changes to your usual timetable, as one of your regular lessons will be replaced by the workshop.

A reminder that games registration takes place today. You should be in your form rooms at 1.30pm ready to be registered.

No pupil can self-dismiss themselves. This only happens on Wednesday afternoons. You therefore must wait until a member of staff has registered you before you leave to get on the bus/go to the sports hall.

Any pupil who self-dismisses can expect a sanction for doing so.

Third Form house representative application process

In the next few weeks Third Form house representatives will be appointed. This is like being a House Captain (the job has this title from Upper Fourth/Year 9 onwards). A boy and a girl will be appointed from each house, so there will be eight appointments altogether.

Some of the requirements of a house representative are:

·       to be a proactive and responsible leader and rôle-model.

·       to help with and encourage others to take part in house events, for example house charity days and Sports Day.

·       to attend meetings organised by the Head of House reliably, punctually and ahead of all other commitments.

·       to get involved in as many co-curricular activities as possible, for example sport, music and clubs and societies.

·       to keep a close eye on house league tables, encouraging others to get merits, avoid crosses and demerits and take part in the co-curricular life of the school.

Please think very carefully about whether you can do these things not for a short period of time but consistently and in the long term. If the answer is 'yes', and if you would really like to be considered, then you should apply.

In order to do so please send a Teams message to your Head of House explaining why you would be a good person to be considered. This message should be not less than 100 words and not more than 200.

Red Wednesday

Red Wednesday - Wednesday 19th November

On Wednesday 19th November we will be celebrating Red Wednesday. On this day we remember the suffering of Christians throughout the world and raise some money for the charity Aid to the Church in Need.

On Red Wednesday you are invited to wear an item of red clothing in addition to your normal uniform. This could be socks, a shirt, trousers/skirt, a hairband - anything really but please no football team shirts.

There will be a fasting lunch on Red Wednesday where we go without our normal lunch to show solidarity with those who are suffering throughout the world. 

Soup and bread/sandwiches will be available at lunchtime, as well as pieces of fruit.

Anyone who has lunch will pay for their food and make a £1 donation to the charity ACN.

The normal food selection will be available at Break, and the Sixth Form Cafe will be open as normal.

Many thanks for your support of Red Wednesday, remembering Christians suffering throughout the world.

U12 & U13 NETBALL After School Training - CHANGE OF LOCATION.

Due to U13A&B home fixture at perivale, After school training on Wednesday 12th November, will take place at Park Sports Pitshanger netball courts. The netball courts are located inside Pitshanger park.

Due to no changing facilities, please change into your games kit at lunch time. This must included a full tracksuit.

Closest Bus stop: Kent Gardens - E2 & E9 

 Mrs Henri will be stationed at the courts.

Mrs Larkam will be at the top of Woodbury Park Road to direct you toward the courts.
